To qualify for residency status in Italy through the Investor Visa program, applicants can choose to:
Innovative Italian StartUp
Purchase of shares in an approved Italian innovative startup to the value of €250,000
Philanthropic donation
Donation of €1,000,000 to an Italian cultural Institution or other entity with charitable goals
An Italian company
Investment of €500,000 in an Italian limited company, incorporated and operative in Italy
Government bonds
Investment of €2,000,000 in Italian government bonds
The investment needs to be maintained during the validity of the visa, and the visa can be extended to the main applicant’s spouse, child, and dependent parents.

In order to apply for the Investor Visa, the foreign investor must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- No criminal convictions in the previous 10 years
- Provide adequate documentation that the funds to be invested result from lawful sources
- Demonstrate that the investor is the effective beneficiary of the investment or donation
- Carry out the investment or donation no later than 90 days after entry in Italy
- Demonstrate to have sufficient resources to maintain themselves/family for the period of stay in Italy
The Investor Visa is valid for 2 years with the possibility to renew for an additional 3 years. After 5 years (2 + 3), it is possible to apply for a long-term EU residence permit, i.e. a permanent residence permit provided the investor registers their fiscal/tax residence in Italy. After 10 years of permanent and legal residence in Italy, an individual is eligible to apply for Italian citizenship.
